Volvo XC30

Royal Ford: "This is a truly great hatchback, and it's my favorite "youth" car to hit the market this year. It is modern Volvo up front, distinctly un-Volvo from the sides, and retro-Volvo with its shaped glass rear hatch."

2008 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Royal Ford: "Look for the hard-top drop-top and imagine yourself back in time, when little roadsters driven by sports car enthusiasts cruised twisting roads. Mazda brought this segment back about 20 years ago, and now it's here again in great form and with modern electronics."

2008 Chevrolet Malibu

Royal Ford: "With the new Malibu, General Motors is out to show the world it can build tightly-fitted, sharply-shaped cars with compelling interiors. It works best in the Corvette-inspired, twin-wrap cockpit of the top Malibu model."

2008 Infiniti G37S

Royal Ford: "This one does go wild. It's the sportiest, most elegant, and affordable coupe of the year, and one of my favorites. Look at it from all angles. Sit in it and pretend you are a jet fighter pilot. You'll get the picture."

2008 Honda Accord Coupe

Roya Ford: "This car is graceful from the outside, subtly elegant on the inside, and the perfect car for anyone seeking a touch of sportiness without going wild."

2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid

Royal Ford: "As a proponent of hybrid technology, I believe that replacing our SUVs with hybrids - and saving even as little as four miles per gallon - would have a greater effect on emissions than subbing Honda hybrids for Civics, or the Toyota Prius for the Corolla. If you are bound to drive big, at least consider buying a big hybrid."

2008 GMC Acadia

Royal Ford: "As a proponent of hybrid technology, I believe that replacing our SUVs with hybrids - and saving even as little as four miles per gallon - would have a greater effect on emissions than subbing Honda hybrids for Civics, or the Toyota Prius for the Corolla. If you are bound to drive big, at least consider buying a big hybrid."

2008 Audi R8

Royal Ford: "This one is for people with fat wallets or trust funds, or those who just like to think big. For $110,000 to more than $130,000 you can own this marvel. This is a world-class high performance car dropped on the market like a comet fallen to earth. Attention Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Corvette: you have company."

2008 Ford Focus

Royal Ford: "Ford disappointed me with the limpness that followed the launch of the original Focus. I thought it was a world-class car in its segment, and while it sagged here, it prospered abroad. Now the Focus is making another run at the market. More than ever, to compete in today's global market for cars, American automakers must build quality models at affordable prices to compete."

Saab 9-3 Turbo-X

Royal Ford: "I drove this new all-wheel-drive system in Sweden this year. Because of its forgiving and efficient electronic control systems, I couldn't make it slide any farther than sideways, even on gravel or simulated ice. Late to the gate with AWD, but welcome back, Saab."

2009 Toyota Corolla

Royal Ford: "The latest Corolla, a Toyota fixture, gets spicier on the outside, more refined on the inside, and is among the most sensible cars to consider. It will be at the auto show as a 2009 model."

Lotus builds some of the most revered and celebrated performance cars in the world, however hasn’t produced an all-new model in over a decade. Toyota TRD Aurion Aussie Racing

This little bugger sports a 1.2L Yamaha engine that puts out 122hp. With a weight of only 992lbs, the TRD Aurion has a power to weight better then a new M3. The class of cars will each have the same specifications and will race in the Aussie Racing series. Toyota labels this as the “ideal grass-roots category for young drivers.” Psst, you don’t have to be young to whip these around a track. Press release below:
Toyota Press Release:
Toyota will race debut the first of four TRD Aurion Aussie Racing Cars in next weekend’s Nikon Indy 300 race on the streets of Surfer’s Paradise.
The exciting Aussie Racing Cars compete nationally at V8 Supercar events, as well as the Indy 300 and the Australian Grand Prix.Toyota is the first manufacturer to directly support entries in Aussie Racing Cars.
Toyota Australia motorsport manager Todd Connolly said Aussie Racing Cars are an exciting category that offer thrilling wheel-to-wheel racing.
“We’re really pleased to join such a competitive, popular and entertaining series,” he said.
“Toyota sees it as an ideal grass-roots category for young drivers to learn and make their way up the ladder in motor sport.”
The 450kg Aussie Racing Cars have identical mechanical specification to ensure close competition and to put the emphasis on driver skill.
They have a moulded body (a caricature of the vehicle on which it is based), a space-frame chassis and 1.2-litre Yamaha engine that delivers 91kW at 11,500rpm.
Todd Connolly identified two synergies with the new TRD Aurion Aussie Racing Cars and Toyota. “Yamaha has been a Toyota technical partner for the last four decades and developed the latest Corolla dual-VVT-i-equipped engine,” he said.
“CATIA, who sponsor our Formula One team and Australian rally team, provided the software to design the TRD Aurion look-alike body for the four new cars.”
The first TRD Aurion Aussie Racing Car to hit the circuit has been nominated as a “guest” car that will feature different motor sport personalities at each event.
It is finished in the same livery as TRD’s 2008 Targa Tasmania class-winning TRD Aurion.Race commentator and V8 race driver Neil Crompton will debut this car at Surfer’s Paradise, with an added exterior feature.
The car will have its roof painted as a bandanna to support CanTeen’s October 31 National Bandanna Day for young people living with cancer.
Todd Connolly said he hopes the car’s appearance at the Nikon Indy 300 event would help raise awareness of CanTeen’s largest annual fund-raising day, when it aimed to sell one million bandannas.
“There will be a hospitality area at the circuit for CanTeen families from South-East Queensland,” he said.(Source: zercustoms.com)

TOYOTA CAMRY SPORTIVO

Test model: Toyota Camry Sportivo with five-speed automatic transmission
Options fitted:
Leather trim $1500 – It’s nice and supple and at this price you might consider it if you had small kids
Moonroof $1650 – Again, this is on the low side as far as electric roofs go, and adds another level of luxury to the car
Recommended retail price: $34,500 (without the options above) although you can get the Sportivo with a manual transmission for $33,000
On road price: Around $37,800 but Toyota plays in the volume game with Camry, so it would pay to shop around.
Warranty: Standard Toyota 3 Years, 100,000km. It’s not the industry leader, but with reliability a core brand value of Toyota, you shouldn’t have any worries.
Where the car sits: The new Camry comes in four varieties and the Sportivo sits ahead of the softer riding Altise and Alteva but under the lush, Grande variant.

Toyota Tundra 2007

Cars.com reviews the 2007 Toyota Tundra and writes - ‘Toyota doesn’t often get it right the first time, or necessarily the second, but it has a history of making generational changes that eventually put its products at or near the top of their vehicle class in sales and/or appeal. It happened with the Camry, the Corolla and the Sienna minivan. It hasn’t happened yet with the Yaris subcompact. It might be happening right now with the 2007 Tundra.’

The New Toyota Supra 2007!?

Rumors of a new Toyota Supra have been circulating for months and every piece of information were come across further validation of these rumors.
Now we know, there will be both coupe and convertible versions of this car. The coupe will be equipped with a 5.0-litter V-8 producing 450 bhp, this engine will not be available for open air model.
The last will get 3.5-litter V-6 producing 350 bhp, the same power train used in the Lexus IS350 and GS350.
If everything we're hearing is true the Supra will appear in October of 2007.

2006 Toyota Tundra Review

Toyota provided me with a brand new Tundra full size pickup to test drive for a week. This was rather timely, as I got a chance to use it for my relocation within Los Angeles, and I took the opportunity to put the truck through a variety of real-life tests and challenges.
Now, a fair warning - I do not pretend to be an expert in the pickup truck market or really test driving in general, I am simply going to tell the story of my experience of spending an entire week driving the Tundra. I have no qualifications to compare this truck to its competitors, as frankly, this is the first truck I have ever driven for an extended term. I do have to say that I appreciate the in-depth attention that Toyota has put into this vehicle, and I found driving the truck to be quite pleasurable. As an aside, the truck had 4700 miles when I got it.
I moved around 15 miles south in the South Bay area, and was able to utilize the truck to relocate every piece of my furniture, including a huge couch which was rather troublesome to fit through any doors we encountered, a bed, and everything from fragile racing trophies I have accumulated to the computer desk, which I did not even have to disassemble to fit in the truck.

The Toyota FT-HS Hybrid Sports Concept Car

Toyota wants teenage boys to daydream about hybrids, apparently.
The FT-HS hybrid sports concept car will be premiered on January 7 at the North American International Auto Show, and we can expect 50:50 weight distribution and a 400+ horsepower monster with a drivetrain very similar to the Lexus GS 450h: a 3.5 liter V6 coupled to Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) system (which could mean SULEV emissions, but no word on fuel economy yet). This could be the next Supra.

What is interesting is not the direct impact of this car on the environment, though we can expect it to be better than the "traditional" V8 gasoline-powered sports cars it will compete against (a lesser evil). No, the interesting thing is the "halo" effect it could have, making hybrids cool and desirable to a new public. Even if they never end up buying that particular model, they'll notice the technology and associate it with something they want instead of something they don't.
